Publishing articles to your website automatically

An article you publish in SEOHero can appear on your own website automatically. Configure this per website under Integrations → Publishing with a publish target: WordPress or a webhook.

WordPress

If your site runs WordPress, choose WordPress and enter your site URL, username and an application password (created in WordPress under Users → Profile → Application Passwords). Every published article is then posted directly. Republishing the same article updates the existing post; reverting it to draft sets the WordPress post back to draft too. The header image gets alt text. If you use Yoast or Rank Math, we also send the meta description and focus keyword; if your site does not accept those fields, the post is simply placed without them.

Webhook

For any other platform there is the webhook: on publish, SEOHero sends a JSON message (HTTP POST) to a URL on your site, which places the article itself. The message includes:

• event and id — the event type and a stable, unique article id
• title, slug, keyword and meta_description
• content_markdown — the full article in Markdown
• content_html — the same article as ready-made HTML
• json_ld — structured data (schema.org) to place in the head of the page
• image_url and image_alt — a ready-made header image (1200×630)
• locale, published_at, updated_at (last content change) and site

The X-SEOHero-Event header is "article.published" for a new or updated article, "article.unpublished" when you revert an article to draft, delete it or merge it (your site should then remove the page with that id; on a merge the body also contains redirect_to and redirect_to_slug, and your site redirects the old address permanently (301) to that article) and "test" for the connection test. Your receiver should upsert on id (or slug): receiving the same id again means overwriting the existing page, never creating a duplicate. Respond within 10 seconds with HTTP 200; any other status counts as a failed delivery and shows up on the article. If that response contains JSON with a url field (the address of the published page), SEOHero uses it for internal links and the backlink network.

AI disclosure on your website

SEOHero's articles and header images are generated by AI. The EU AI Act (article 50(4)) requires anyone who publishes AI-generated text to inform the public on matters of public interest to mark that text as AI-generated — unless a person has reviewed it and someone holds editorial responsibility. You publish the articles, so that choice and that notice are yours. SEOHero helps: every webhook message contains the field ai_generated (always true) and for WordPress we send the meta seohero_ai_generated (only visible if your theme or plugin registers that meta). Use it to show a line below the article, or add a fixed notice to your article template if SEOHero writes all your articles. If you review your articles before publication yourself, you can name yourself as editor instead.

Testing and managing

Send test checks the connection. Once a target is connected you see the delivery URL compactly with a test and a disconnect button. If a delivery fails, the error shows on the article with a retry button.
